God is More a Giver

God is more a giver, than a taker.

Jane Marczewski, who captured our attention on  America’s Got Talent died Saturday after her battle with cancer. I love what she wrote about her Lord, “He is more of a giver than a taker. He doesn’t take away my darkness, he adds light. He doesn’t spare me of thirst, he brings water. He doesn’t cure my loneliness, he comes near.”

Her beautiful words stirred up my own testimony and brought to mind the ways God has given so sweetly to me and my family.

He didn’t take away the illness, He gave sweet, compassionate, angelic caretakers.

He didn’t still the storm, but He was with us in the storm.

He didn’t take away the sadness, but we found inexplicable joy in the midst of it.

He refused to remove the hardship, but gave strength to endure.

He didn’t take away the tears, but provided a shoulder to cry on.

He didn’t take away the rough road with all the twists and turns, but He held our hands and guided us.

He didn’t take away the fragility of the human body, but gave us the privilege of caring for him.

He didn’t take away the pain, but He comforted.

He didn’t take away death, but He gave eternal life and the sweet gift of being right there on sacred ground when the door to eternity opened, and our loved one passed through it to heaven.

Oh, how often we pray take-away prayers, but God has a gift in mind that is far better.  He really is a beautiful Giver.
