I have an over active imagination. It’s probably just me, but I am prone to dwell on what ifs; often these what ifs point to my worst fears.
What if the bottom falls out? What if my heart is broken in ways that are greater than I can recover from? What if the stock market tanks? What if my health fails? What if I lose a loved one?
What if? What if? What if?
All of my what ifs are motivated by fear. Worry mentally fixes the future as bleak, because God is not in our imaginations … He’s an ever-present God.
Then God whispered to my heart … pivot.
What if God really is who He says is, and really will do what He says He will do?
What if God really will take care of us? What if God really will cause all things to work together for good? What if God really will supply our every need? What if God really will be with us no matter what? What if He really is all powerful, and Sovereign over everything that touches our lives?
What if?
What if … we believed He really has a good plan for our lives? What if … we trusted Him to guide us when we don’t know the way? What if … we believed God really is bigger than our problems? What if … we didn’t have to worry about a single thing? What if … we knew for sure the future would be good and we would be okay? What if … we trusted that the people in our lives are exactly where they need to be to become who God has made them to be?
These are not wishes, wild mind games, or over-active imaginations. His Truth is certain, guaranteed.
There is a promise in God’s Word for every fear we have. Ponder these truths.
“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” ~ Romans 8:28 AMP
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” ~ Psalm 32:8 ESV
The Lord is bigger than anything we can imagine. He is infinite, eternal, and all-powerful. Psalm 95:3 says, “For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.” His greatness is beyond our understanding, and His power is beyond measure.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ~ Isaiah 41:10
What if .. we believed and trusted Him? How then would we live?
I think we would laugh more, love deeply, worry less, enjoy life, have a deeper faith, and enjoy God, the Promise keeper, who holds it all in His Perfect, Loving Hands.
